Category Access Platforms

An access platform (or access lift platform) is a mechanical device which is  used in industry, to provide temporary access for people or equipment to inaccessible areas. These are usually at a height. Some access platforms can be moved along the ground whilst extended.

Access platforms are generally used for temporary, flexible access purposes such as maintenance and construction work. This makes them different from permanent access equipment such as elevators. They are designed to lift limited weights  of  usually less than a tonne, although some have a higher work safety allowance, distinguishing them from most types of cranes. Access platforms are usually capable of being fully set up and operated by  a single person.

Regardless of the task they are used for, access platforms may provide additional features beyond just transport and access. This may include being equipped with electrical outlets or compressed air connectors for power tools. They may also be equipped with specialist equipment, such as carrying frames for window glass.

There are several distinct types of access platforms, which all have specific features that make them more or less desirable for different applications. The key difference is in the drive mechanism which propels the platform to the desired location. Most are powered by either hydraulics or  possibly pneumatics. The different techniques are reflected in the pricing and availability of each type.

15.5m Boom Lift

An impressive working outreach with zero tail-swing helps the HR15N to reach awkward jobs, especially when space is limited, and its super-efficient power system allows the batteries to work for longer, so more tasks can be completed and running costs reduced.

The new Height Rider 15N (HR15N) will lift 2 men and their tools to a working height of 15.5m or a working outreach of 9.7m. Its practical 180° rotating cage and fly-boom coupled with fully proportional multi-function controls deliver exceptional precision when positioning, making tasks quicker and easier to perform.

The HR15N also incorporates Niftylift’s ToughCage, and multi-award winning SiOPS® safety system which eliminates sustained involuntary operation by instantly stopping machine movement if the operator is pushed onto the control console.

The HR15N’s 1.5m width and sub 2m height enables travel through restricted spaces. Optional non-marking tyres mean that it can work both inside and out making it ideal for industrial or maintenance work.

The HR15N is available with two power options. You can chose from a super-efficient battery-only power system, or Niftylift’s revolutionary Hybrid power system, delivering the ultimate combination of environmentally conscious efficiency and performance.
